Hi there, I’m Melinda, I’m the Designer & Textile Artist behind Ms. Sinda.

Hi I’m Melinda, Ms. Sinda is a name given to me by my Grandfather after a short nursery rhyme he created and sang to me when I was young. It’s stuck with me into adulthood and I felt it was the perfect name that renews my connection to the act of play and creation from my childhood. I’m renewing that love by stepping away from computer based design by using my hands to create physical, tangible items.
For over 10 years I’ve worked as a Graphic Designer across various fields, including the fashion industry. During that time, I’ve seen firsthand how fast-paced and wasteful the industry can be. It’s unfortunate because, like many others, I have a deep love for textiles.

With that in mind, I began sourcing most of my wardrobe from second-hand stores, hoping to reduce my contribution to the industry’s strain on the planet. Through this habit, I discovered a love for unusual garments—pieces that didn’t blend into the revolving door of trends. On one occasion, for a work party, I decided to refashion a pre-loved skirt and sew a top using my design and sewing skills. The result sparked something I hadn’t felt since first beginning my design journey—a renewed passion for creativity and self-expression. It felt right. As I choose not to contribute to the growing issues in fashion, I made myself a promise: if I was going to pursue this passion,

I would at least follow a few simple values. Every item I make must align with at least one of the following:
- Recycle and upcycle pre-loved and existing styles.
- Use clean, kind resources that care for the Earth.
- Create using slow, thoughtful processes—steering away from mass production and overconsumption.
My goal is to connect back to the chaos of creativity, not perfection. To make to fill the soul, to create slow methodical wearable art that brings happiness and sentimentality unlike the trends of today. Follow me in this journey and sign up to my newsletter.
